April 1st, 1997 Young’s Gear Inc. Anchorage opened for business! Young’s Gear quickly grew into Anchorage’s leading Automotive Drivetrain Parts and Service company. With an initial staff of three employees, Young’s rapidly grew by providing Anchorage and Alaska with quality automotive drivetrain parts and service. In October 2007, Young’s Gear was purchased by two long term employees, Doug Coon and Justin Herrin. In 2013, Doug and Justin were honored to be nominated for and win the SBA Small Business Persons of the Year Award.

Justin has been in the drivetrain field for more than 26 years, 19 of those with Young’s. Justin has worked the parts counter as well as managed the store. His unique personality makes him a professional when it comes to helping customers find what they need. Justin is the true multi-tasker. It is not uncommon to observe him juggling multiple phone lines and helping walk in customers at the same time. His ability to recall part numbers from memory is extraordinary, making him a true talent at the parts counter.
Jon has been with the Young’s Gear team handling parts sales for over 5 years now. He is a lifelong Alaskan and enjoys tuning and racing Cummins Diesels. Jon is the true “car guy” owning an immaculate Buick Grand National among others. His unique personality makes him a great addition to the Young’s Team.
Wes is our lead Service Writer and has been with Young's Gear for four years. He has over 28 years of hands-on vehicle repair experience, as well as parts and service knowledge. Wes's hobbies include modifying and customizing vehicles, along with working on and drag racing everything from JR Dragsters to wicked quick street cars and Alcohol Funny Cars
Chris has worked in the drivetrain field for more than 28 years, 17 of those with Young’s. He has spent time behind the parts counter and his knowledge of all things drivetrain is impressive. Chris’s remarkable ability to diagnose a problem then explain the repair to the customer is one of his greatest assets.
David has worked on vehicles for more than 26 years. He has been with Young’s for more than 14 years. David brings years of specialized experience in not only the drivetrain field but in other areas as well. He will take on any task given to him with a smile. These attributes make David a valuable member of the Young’s Team.
Dave has been in the drivetrain industry for more than 21 years, 18 of those with Young’s. Dave or as we call him, “The Dave” has a unique ability to find ways to repair almost anything that comes across his workbench. Over the years, he has manufactured special tools and fixtures allowing him to make the most of his time repairing driveshafts. If “The Dave” can’t fix it, nobody can.
Chris has been a part of our team for over two years now. He brings 20 years of automotive mechanical repair knowledge and experience to our shop. Chris is passionate about fixing cars and making them fast. His attention to detail is rare and we are glad to have him as part of our family!
Quinn has over eight years of automotive diagnostic and repair experience. Quinn is an avid outdoors-man and loves off-roading, camping, hiking and snowboarding

Kristine keeps the office in line, fun, light and running smoothly. During her off hours she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and the local equine community.
